Here's a boot from 1985 with the Weckmaster.... er..... well at least not with Stevie Ray Vaughn tunes he isn't
This is an all star line up with Ricard Tee, Cornell Dupree, Weckl, Will Lee, George Benson, Stevie Ray, and Stanley Banks. It was a 25th B-Day bash gig at Mikells in N.Y.C. 6-23-1985.
Enjoy

Yeah..... I got "It's exceeded it alloted bandwidth" message. Probably everyone downloaded this pretty quick. I'm up loading a cool Bozzio boot from UK back in the 80's right now, so if you see it, snatch it as quick as you can. I'll re-upload this again later tonight. I've also got this really cool Bruford stuff from around the same time. Just strike when the iron is hot.
ps.... does anybody know of file transfer sites that allow more bandwidth and downloads??
pss..... does anybody know why all of a sudden my acrobat reader is kicking on when I go to this website?? Weird?? Never did this before.

Suspiria.....
I guess that if you listen to the original version with Stevie, Weckl just messes up on some of the more important fills, stops and starts. But then again.... for Dave, this was a "casual" gig. I'm sure he didn't know that this would eventually come back to haunt him. I can't wait to give him the whole show on CD. He's gonna get a kick out of this.
With the internet and technology today...... hmmmpf..... I guess you never want to be photographed in a peculiar position

Thanks Mechanic, just downloaded this. Are you referring to the sloppy fill during the intro?

I can beat that...
I saw Dennis play the Blue Note in NYC and really screw up. After his solo, he began the drum intro to the song again to bring the band back in...only it was the wrong intro! The previous song had a drum intro as well and that's the one he played. He completely stopped, let out an atypical "Ahhhhhhhh!" and started the correct drum intro. I've never seen anything like it. But I didn't really care, either...it was funny. Also, the first couple songs were acoustic and he didn't play. Guess who left the snares on? BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ all the way through it. It was really bad. I think he was upstrairs buying CD's or something. I gotta tell you though...I sat at the table right next to him and when he soloed, my hair was flying back...

I saw Dennis Chambers train wreck when he was playing with Carl Filipiac. Dennis displaced something like an eighth note is 6/8. Somehow, either the bass player screwed up----or was it Dennis---anyway, Dennis paused and crashed a big ONE. He looked really pissed, and the rest of the night he played pedestrian.
You are only as good as your band. When your band smokes, you smoke. When your band fluffs it, your stuck playing fluff.

I think I sent this before, but I went to see Virgril and CAB with PocketPlayer about a year ago and got the show on MD. Needless to day, this one really showed me that Virgil IS human afterall!
